The First Day Guide

Getting Ready for Preschool

What to bring, what to expect, and how to make your child’s first days feel safe and smooth.

The Essentials

These are the small things that make a big difference — clothes to play in, shoes to explore in, and a few comforts from home. Each item helps your child feel safe, independent, and ready for a day full of discovery.
Comfortable clothes
Easy to move, play, and nap in — think layers, soft fabrics, and nothing too precious.
Comfortable shoes
Safe, non-slip shoes for classroom and indoor play.
Outdoor outfit
Waterproof jacket, boots, hat — we play outside every day, rain or shine.
Change of clothes
Accidents happen — an extra set helps your child stay comfy.
Small backpack
A place for personal treasures or favorite items to bring from home.
Water bottle
Clearly labeled and easy for small hands to open.

Before the First Day

The best preparation is gentle and gradual. Talk about RCA Preschool as a friendly, fun place. Visit together if possible.Let your child pack their own backpack — even a small task builds confidence.
Our tip
The calmer you are, the safer your child feels. First days are for connection, not perfection.
